Suedemaster was started in the basement of Scarboro Cleaners in 1967 and rapidly became successful as a wholesale suede and leather cleaner for drycleaners who did not have the specialized equipment to clean suede and leather properly.
Due to this success, in 1969 Suedemaster was forced to expand to a 5,500 sq. ft. plant in the east end of Toronto. In 1975, the Maxwell Family purchased Suedemaster and expanded its wholesale routes so it could service all drycleaners throughout southern Ontario--covering all cities and towns within a 500 kilometer radius of Toronto. Eventually Suedemaster also expanded into New York State serving Buffalo and Rochester.
In 1996, again due to increase in business, Suedemaster moved all operations to a state-of-the-art 13,500 sq. ft. production facility in central Toronto, the present-day location.
By 2010, there were only three other comparable suede and leather cleaners across Canada and as a result, Suedemaster gained a whole new customer base sending garments by mail and courier services, from across Canada.
